Makayla

Senior Veterinary Assistant / Lead Client Care Representative

Makayla began her journey in veterinary medicine in the fall of 2020, after a decade of working in the customer service industry. She was inspired by her late cat, Mr. Shakedown; a Siberian kitten who was born with Spina Bifida.

Makayla is currently in veterinary technician school, and hopes to one day specialize in animal rehabilitation.

When she isn't at the hospital, Makayla spends her time watching lots of TV (her favourite is Glee!), training for her first marathon, or playing with her dog, Shoresy, her cat, Fia, and her hamster, Yasmin!

Cayley

Veterinary Assistant / Client Care Representative

Cayley has been working as a Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist since 2021 after beginning her career in animal care in 2018. She has always had a passion for working with animals of all types, but holds a special place in her heart for dogs and rabbits!

Cayley is currently enrolled at Douglas College for her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology!

At home, she enjoys hanging out with her rabbit, Romeo, who she adopted in 2019. During her spare time, Cayley enjoys drawing, painting and playing piano. She is very passionate about expanding her knowledge about animal care and behavioural training, including positive reinforcement training, and loves teaching dogs and cats new tricks!

Maria

Veterinary Assistant / Client Care Representative

Due to her great love for cats and dogs, Maria is pursuing a career in the veterinary field to one
day become a veterinarian. Ever since she was younger, she has helped rescue and foster stray cats.

Maria has also trained not only dogs, but cats as well! She dedicates a majority of her time learning about animals and the various ways to train them. She is good at handling anxious dogs and cats, and always treats each animal that visits the hospital as if they were her own.

Maria spends her free time with her beloved cats, Luna and Connor, a calico and a ragdoll she adopted in 2022. She also loves trying out new restaurants with her friends, and traveling the world! Maria is fluent in English, Turkish and Korean.

Juliana

Veterinary Assistant

Juliana recently graduated from the University of Guelph in Ontario, and will soon be flying overseas to pursue her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. A Port Moody local, Juliana enjoys taking her pet Kiwi (pictured above!) on walks around Rocky Point. She is always happy to help and can often be found cuddling with your animals around the hospital!

Abigail

Client Care Representative

Abigail is passionate for the care and rescue of all animals. Since beginning her career in 2022, Abigail has rescued two dogs, two cats, and a ball python.

Though new to the veterinary world, she is excited to learn everything there is about veterinary medicine here at Burke Mountain Animal Hospital. Her favourite part of the day is greeting each patient when they walk through our door!

When she isn't at work, you can find Abigail on the trails with her faithful running partner, Crash, who she recently adopted from the SPCA!
